Who is the Basic
Rock Lesson for?
This one-day course is designed for those with no previous climbing
experience, or who wish to
review basic rock techniques. It for anyone who is interested in learning
to rock climb. If you have never climbed before, only climbed in a gym,
haven't climbed for a while, or just want a refresher, this course is
for you. We teach people to climb every year and most of them start
with this course. If rock climbing is something you have always wanted
to try, this fun, informative, one-day course will be perfect.
What will I learn
on the Basic Rock Lesson?
You will learn how all the basic equipment works, how the safety systems
function and how to move on the rock. All the instruction is hands-on
and we spend as much time as possible climbing. By the end of the day
you will have learned how to use a harness and tie into the rope, how
to use anchors, how to Belay another climber, how to organize the equipment,
and how to climb and Rappel safely. You will learn by doing--our philosophy
is that people learn best by getting out there and climbing.
When is the Basic
Rock Lesson held?
This course runs every day from early spring through late fall. You

of two, we may match you with someone else if it is appropriate.
How do I sign
up for the Basic Rock Lesson?

about our programs and then take down all the information we need to
sign you up. To ensure that you get the day you want, try to give us
as much notice as possible--a couple of weeks is usually sufficient
(we may be able to accommodate you with much less notice so if your
schedule opens up and you want to climb, just give us a call.)

of a combination of ground school and on-the-cliff instruction. We don't
sit around much so be prepared to be busy all day.

Any child over 15 can take this course with no restrictions. For children
ages 12-15 we strongly recommend that an adult or other child accompany

have young children and are interested in enrolling them in this or
any other course, just give us a call and we'll set something up.
