Introduction to Rock Climbing

Who is the Introduction Lesson for?
This half day lesson is perfect for those who want an introduction to the sport without making a full day commitment. You'll learn the basics of climbing and complete several top rope climbs and a rappel.

When is the Basic Rock Lesson held?
This course runs every day from early spring through late fall. You can schedule it any day you want by calling our reservation line 603-444-1039

How big are the classes for the Basic Rock Lesson?
Our standard group instruction is taught with a maximum of three clients with one instructor. We keep our ratios low so that you get personal attention. If you book in for a group lesson as an individual or a party of two, we may match you with someone else if it is appropriate.

How do I sign up for the Basic Rock Lesson?
Signing up is as easy as calling our reservation and information line at 603-444-1039. When you call we will answer any questions you have about our programs and then take down all the information we need to sign you up. To ensure that you get the day you want, try to give us as much notice as possible--a couple of weeks is usually sufficient (we may be able to accommodate you with much less notice so if your schedule opens up and you want to climb, just give us a call.)

What equipment does Climb On, Inc., provide for the Lesson?
We provide all the technical equipment including a harness, helmet, and all other hardware.

What hours does the course run and how is the day structured?
We meet for the course at 7:30 and usually finish up between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. We will take a few minutes in the morning to outfit you for equipment and then head right out to the crags. The lesson will consist of a combination of ground school and on-the-cliff instruction. We don't sit around much so be prepared to be busy all day.

Can children take the Basic Rock Lesson?
Children love to learn, are natural climbers and are often fearless. Any child over 15 can take this course with no restrictions. For children ages 12-15 we strongly recommend that an adult or other child accompany them. For children under 12 we insist that they be accompanied. If you have young children and are interested in enrolling them in this or any other course, just give us a call and we'll set something up.

Do I need to be young and fit to take the Basic Rock Lesson?
If you are eager to learn, enthusiastic and in reasonably good shape, we can teach you to rock climb.

What do I need to Bring?
For our Rock Climbing Programs, you should bring clothing for the weather, including a light wind shell or rain jacket, an easy-to-eat lunch, at least a liter of water (more if its hot) bug repellant, sun screen, a small day pack and a camera! Check here for a complete gear list.

How much does the course cost?
Price is per person: $125
