Who is the Intermediate
Ice Climbing Lesson for?
If you have prior ice climbing experience or have taken our Basic Ice
Lesson then our
intermediate
lesson may be perfect for you. These lessons are open-ended; you can
take one day or a dozen until you reach your desired level of competency.
When is the
Intermediate Ice Climbing Lesson held?
This lesson runs every day from late fall through early spring. You
can schedule it any day you want by calling our reservation line 603-444-1039
What will I
learn on the Intermediate Ice Climbing Lesson?
Since our intermediate program is open ended there is not a set curriculum
for the day. The level of climbing difficulty and the specific skills
covered will depend on the abilities and desires of the clients. In
general, intermediate lessons focus on refining basic waterfall ice
climbing skills on routes that vary in length from one to several pitches
and in difficulty from quite easy to quite hard. Utilizing the anchor,
protection, and belaying systems and learning to improve climbing technique
form the basis for all intermediate instruction.
How big are
the classes for the Intermediate Ice Climbing Lesson?
Our standard group instruction is taught with a maximum of three clients
with one instructor. We keep our ratios low so that you get personal
attention. If you book in for a group lesson as an individual or a party
of two, we may match you with someone else if it is appropriate.
How do I sign
up for the Intermediate Ice Climbing Lesson?
Signing up is as easy as calling our reservation and information line
at 603-444-1039. When you call we will answer any questions you have
about our programs and then take down all the information we need to
sign you up. We take payment at the time of the reservation via a credit
card--though other payment options may be available. To ensure that
you get the day you want, try to give us as much notice as possible--a
couple of weeks is usually sufficient (we may be able to accommodate
you with much less notice so if your schedule opens up and you want
to climb, just give us a call.)
What equipment
does Climb On, Inc., provide?
We provide all the technical equipment including a harness, helmet,
mountaineering boots, crampons and ice axes.
What hours does
the course run and how is the day structured?
We meet for the course at 7:30 and usually finish up between 3:00 and
4:00 PM. We will take a few minutes in the morning to outfit you for
equipment and then head right out to the crags. The lesson will consist
of a combination of ground school and on-the-cliff instruction. We don't
sit around much so be prepared to be busy all day.
Do I need to
be young and fit to take the Intermediate Ice Lesson?
If you are eager to learn, enthusiastic and in reasonably good shape,
we can teach you to ice climb.
Can children
take the Intermediate Ice Lesson?
Children 15 and over may sign up for ice climbing lessons without
restriction. If you have a child 12-14 years old give us call to see
what would be appropriate. We're sorry, but ice climbing instruction
is not available for children under twelve.
