Who is the Basic
Ice Climbing Lesson for?
This lesson is for those who have never tried ice climbing before or
want to brush up on the
basics.
Prior rock climbing experience is helpful but not necessary. If you
have always wanted to try ice climbing, this fun, informative, one-day
program will be perfect for you.
What will I
learn on the Basic Ice Climbing Lesson?
You will learn how all the basic equipment works, how the safety systems
function and how to move on the ice. All instruction is hands-on and
we will spend as much time as possible climbing. By the end of the day
you will have learned how to use a harness and tie into the rope, how
to use anchors and ice screws, how to Belay another climber and how
to use crampons and ice axes to ascend ice climbs of varying difficulties.
You will learn by doing-our philosophy is that people learn best by
getting out there and climbing.
When is the
Basic Ice Climbing Lesson held?
This lesson runs every day from late fall through early spring. You
can schedule it any day you want by calling our reservation line 603-444-1039
How big are
the classes for the Basic Ice Climbing Lesson?
Our standard group instruction is taught with a maximum of three clients
with one instructor. We keep our ratios low so you get personal attention.
If you book in for a group lesson as an individual or a party of two,
we may match you with someone else if appropriate.
How do I sign
up for the Basic Ice Climbing Lesson?
Signing up is as easy as calling our reservation and information line
at 603-444-1039. When you call we will answer any questions you have
about our programs and then take down all the information we need to
sign you up. We take payment at the time of the reservation via a credit
card--though other payment options may be available. To ensure that
you get the day you want, try to give us as much notice as possible--a
couple of weeks is usually sufficient (we may be able to accommodate
you with much less notice so if your schedule opens up and you want
to climb, just give us a call.)
What equipment
does Climb On, Inc., provide for the Lesson?
We provide all the technical equipment including a harness, helmet,
mountaineering boots, crampons and ice axes.
What hours does
the course run and how is the day structured?
We meet for the program at 7:30 and usually finishes up between 3:00
and 4:00 PM. After a few minutes in the morning making sure we have
the proper equipment we will head out to the climbs. We will be busy
climbing all day.

If you are eager to learn, enthusiastic and in reasonably good shape,
we can teach you to ice climb.
